We are

Our mission is to provide supplemental food to those in our community who are in need. We want to create a sense of caring community through outreach with food. It is our goal to positively impact our clients through both food and caring hearts.

The food pantry got its start in this area at the local fire department during the 60's and 70's. Around the late 70's- early 80's, Valley Church handed out (State) food and then that moved to what was then, Hope Lutheran on Steubenville Pike. In the late 80's, it moved back to Valley and then in the 90's moved to the location on Steubenville Pike within the basement to the library building. At that time, there were about 50 families who benefited from the pantry distributions. In the fall/winter, 2,000 ads were placed in the local church bulletins and three people wound up working as co-coordinators of the Pantry in February of 2001.  The gentleman was in the National Guard and when the attacks happened here, he was called up for active duty.  The other lady was married with two or three children (memory fails me now) and because of family needs, she had to quit her work at the Pantry.  North Fayette Township was very generous in their support of the Food Pantry and made changes as was needed.  But in July of 2009 North Fayette told us the plans they had for the building would require that The Food Pantry find another location.
